Child care activists have labeled the work of the federal government's newly appointed advisory committee on the design of its child care spaces initiative "a waste of time and money".

The hand picked committee appears dominated by representatives that share the government's far right ideology and lacks expertise on child care development. Missing is any representation from Quebec's advanced child care system or officials from other provinces with developed child care plans. Although 70 per cent of child care in Canada is operated by community-based organizations their presence on the committee is negligible.
