EXCERPTS

The Catholic school board has reached an agreement with CUPE regarding early childhood educators.

Teaching staff who specialize in early learning will now have clearly defined roles in the classroom, as well as a framework for placement into the existing collective agreement.

Pat Holland, president of CUPE Local 1358, said: "We are very excited to have concluded this important step to making early learning a reality in Windsor."

The new agreement between Local 1358 and the Windsor-Essex District Catholic School Board follows the terms of the latest negotiated deal between the province, the school boards and staff unions.

Called the Provincial Discussion Table, the deal will remain in effect until 2012.
