On March 17th, 2011 a community forum was held at the Ajax Council Chambers to discuss how to work in partnership to reduce poverty in Canada, as recommended by Parliamentary committee report, Federal poverty reduction plan: Working in partnership towards reducing poverty in Canada, and Bill C-545.

Carol Goar from the Toronto Star moderated the discussion and speakers included:
Mike Creek, Voices from the Street
Mark Holland, M.P. (Liberal, Ajax-Pickering)
Chris Alexander (Conservative Party candidate, Ajax-Pickering)
Trish McAuliffe (NDP candidate, Whitby-Oshawa)
