EXCERPTS

The Parti Québécois promises a publicly subsidized daycare spot for every Quebec child by 2017.

PQ leader Pauline Marois announced her party's family policy at a campaign stop this morning in north shore Blainville, inside a children's indoor playground center.

Marois said by 2016, 15,000 more $7-a-day spots will be created, for a total of 28,000. She said by 2017, there'll be 250,000 spaces in total, a spot for each child.

She also reiterated a previoiusly announced government initiative to set up a one stop shop for daycare registrations as of June 1.

The party also promises to change the rules so that parents can obtain a duplicate medicare card for their child so each parent can have one on their person at all times, which would help single parent families.

Marois said Quebec Liberal Leader Philippe Couillard and his party don't believe in the public daycare system, accusing them of abandoning it in favour of the private sector system and donations to the party.
