The OCBCC (Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care) is advocating for people to take action in celebrating the 2nd Annual child care worker appreciation day.

"Has your municipal council declared October 30th Child Care Worker Appreciation Day? Each council has now been sent a letter from CUPE Ontario asking them to do so".

The following are some ideas from OCBCC to make the 2nd Annual child care worker appreciation day a visible day in your community:

•Get your municipal council to pass the resolution declaring October 30th Child Care Worker Appreciation Day

•Notify the press of your activities and why you're acting

•Distribute buttons and posters – call or email OCBCC for free materials

•Organize a sit-in at your local politician's office to let them know how much you value and respect the important work child care workers undertake in caring for children.

There are many things that can be done to advocate, recognize and celebrate the valuable role child care workers play in the lives of children, families and communities. Please contact Kira Heineck, Public Education Coordinator, at the Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care for further information, posters, T-shirts, leaflets and other information.
