Topics include defining child abuse; indicators of abuse; documentation; responding to disclosures; steps in reporting and investigation; legal statutes; witnessing spousal abuse; allegations against individuals working with children; individual coping skills; helping families deal with child abuse; role of the community; child abuse prevention; assessing child abuse prevention programs; developing policies and procedures within your organization.
Students will receive a Certificate from the Toronto Child Abuse Centre.
Students may purchase the manual developed by the Toronto Child Abuse Centre at the workshop entitled, "Making a difference: The child care community's response to child abuse" at the special workshop price of $39.95 (optional).
