Description:

In late 2013, the Muttart Foundation and the Saskatchewan Population Health and Evaluation Research Unit will host two facilitated discussions on the organization, funding and delivery of early learning and child care for children 0 to 6 years of age in Saskatchewan. The Muttart Foundation, with the assistance of the Childcare Resource and Research Unit, has prepared a background report to help support this discussion: ‘Children and Families in the New Saskatchewan: A Discussion of Early Learning and Child Care'. The report provides an overview of the current state of early learning and child care in the province. It also looks to the future and considers how the recent social and economic changes in the province might best align with policy and practice research to help shape early learning and child care for our youngest citizens and their families. It is the Muttart Foundation's hope that the discussions, and the supporting background report, help to raise the profile of early learning and child care in the province, and spur future additional thinking and work on how best to advance the field in the best interests of children and their families.
