EXCERPTS:

As a resident of Peel Region all my life and an early childhood educator, I have had the opportunity to work in for-profit, non-profit and regional daycare centres throughout Peel.

As a result, I'm not convinced that this is the smartest idea the council has made.
I don't understand Counc. Gael Miles' statement that ‘all the facts were before us'. Where are all the facts that the decision was made on, and if they are so persuasive, why do they make so little sense to the early childhood community and the parents?
There just was not enough reasonable, factual, concrete reasoning behind the council's decision, which leaves many unanswered questions that contribute to a situation that I believe will most likely backfire.

Unfortunately, who is most likely to lose out are the children, the parents and the early childhood educators who are losing what have been the role models for quality in Peel Region's better child care centres.
