EXCERPTS

Parents in Devon are scrambling to find child care. The only daycare in town shut down without notice earlier this month. Parents and staff called the Global Troubleshooter for help.

Parents and staff showed up at the Devon Child Care Centre to find they were locked out, they found a note on the door saying it was in receivership.

Now, 25 families have no childcare, and four people are out of work.

The owner changed the locks and left this letter for parents and staff to read about the financial problems. A shock to the daycare's four full time employees.

The workers say it's time government tightened it's policies on daycare ownership. In the interest of kids, not cash. But the government says it's limited to licensing not policing daycare operations.

"If an individual corporation decides to close really we have no position other than to remove a license from them"

The inside of the daycare has been gutted, years of hard work, down the drain.

But the women say they're still committed to kids.

Templeman's daycare license has been revoked indefinitely. He wouldn't tell us if parents who paid in advance would get their money back. Many are out hundreds of dollars.
