EXCERPTS

[Ed. note: this is an open letter to Health and Social Services Minister Peter Jenkins.]

The Yukon Child Care Association would like to thank the Yukon government and the Minister of Health and Social Services for their continued commitment to improve the child care programs in the Yukon.

This additional $230,000, which is to be used until the end of the fiscal year, will be used for wages and for set-up spaces. It will create short-term stability in the field, while we are making the four-year plan to adress all the critical issues facing the child care field in the Yukon.

As we all know, this amount of money will not be able to solve all the challenges that face us; we still have a long way to go.

If we keep on working collectively, we will be able to keep our trained work force in the field and provide quality child care to our precious children and their families.

We look forward to continually working with your government in creating a four-year plan that will benefit all child care stakeholders.
