Why we do it
Over the years, a philosophy has evolved which guides the activities and
development of CRRU:
- Based on multidisciplinary research and policy analysis, CRRU has
a commitment to the development of a universal, high quality, publicly-funded,
not-for-profit, inclusive ECEC system. The development and implementation
of an ECEC system in Canada will be a lengthy process. Close attention
to program and policy details now will pay off in the future.
- Policy makers and program specialists in federal, provincial and local
government, program practitioners, parents, coordinating bodies and
advocates in the community, and researchers with special skills and
expertise all have important roles to play in the development of this
high quality ECEC system.
- The program design, policy development and research which will provide
a solid framework for the development of this ECEC system can be strengthened
by information, resources and technical assistance.
- One useful and important component of the process of designing and
developing child care services is communication among researchers, policy
makers and the community across Canada.
- The provision of public education, information resources, and technical
and research support has both proactive and reactive aspects; both are
important.
